Look. I’m all for the Web. But we CANNOT dismiss the fact that a lot of it is actually being built on top of things / tools we lost a lot of control over. Google and Facebook have managed to dictate what 80% of Web developers think the Web is meant to look like. Not because it was a good idea but because instead of communal organization; we (as tech workers) let money determine fates. Continuing down this path knowing that is to engage in those activities as complicit as those companies in all of the misgivings they’ve been guilty for the last decade.
Why are Web developers so OKAY with this?
